I decided to get a bento lunch today from the corner store, rather than mingling with the crowds around the station. This is a delivery bento place but since I live so close by I dropped down to pick up a quick TeriMayo Chicken (照りマヨチキン).

This is the store on the corner. Always popular locally at lunch and dinnerPhoto dataCameraCanon PowerShot G10Focal length25mmAperturef/4.5Shutter1/400sISO80Taken1 May 2009, 13:33

I normally buy some hot green tea to go with this, but today was so warm I resorted to some Pocari Sweat.

What is your favorite bento? Let me know in the comments what you like to eat when you're in Japan.

pocari sweat - great on a hot day!

I love unagi bentos -- a bit more expensive but still, a bargain compared to restaurants. I'm all for bentos and that one looks delicious, rice looks so damn tasty!

Thanks Hao. The rice was really good! As it gets a bit warmer I will probably start eating the unagi bento as well :)

The Honke-Kamadoya around the corner from my old apartment in Kyoto had a nice Akebono Bento. Salmon, oishii...

Oh geez, and hot green tea in the winter or Mitsuya Cider in summer...

I could eat a nice Salmon Bento from Akebono right now. :) very tasty.

Nothing like a good cold Mitsuya cider straight out of a can, not the pet bottle. Thanks
