Jimmy Choo with H&M at the Shibuya store

I started my Sunday walk in Shibuya having a look at Yamada Denki and then checking out the H&M Store that opened recently.

mmmm, looks like there is more than one Choo in town making news this week.

I had heard about the new NIKE store opening thanks to TokyoFashion.com and decided to go and check it out. Since Harajuku is just one stop away on the Yamanote line, I set off on foot. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk down and on the weekend there are plenty of people out.

On the way I passed plenty of brand stores and took a few snaps of some.

Marui currently have nike, adidas in their store, but with concept stores popping up, how do these small stores in store keep going?

There were plenty of people around, but too close to snap really. My zoom lens would probably have hit someone in the face if I pointed it at them. Never a good thing to happen when you want to get a photo taken. ^_^

It was so crowded today, there must have been some events on, or maybe everyone was fed up of being kept indoors with the flu and decided to make a break for it to Harajuku.

The streets were packed out today. It was hard just to find a place to stand never mind walk. No chance of getting down to KIDDY LANDPhoto dataCameraNikon D700Focal length280mmAperturef/8Shutter1/250sISO3200Taken15 Nov 2009, 15:30

The new NIKE store which had been my original place to visit was close to Harajuku station. Unfortunately they were guarding the store closely and didn't want any photos taken. Looks like they want to write their own copy rather than have social media getting in on the act. Sorry, no photos to show you.

Instead here is some more Tokyo scenery to view ^__^.

With NIKE not wanting any free publicity, I thought I would take some photos of adidas.

Do you normally take a walk on the weekend? What area do you normally go to see? What sites are there to view along the way?

Dropbox is very good. It creates a dropbox folder in your home directory (wether that is windows or mac) and the folders are synchronised with others you chose. If I Share a folder with you everything I drag/drop or copy in there will inmeadetly be on your computer as well to open, edit or even delete. It is a very good way to collaborate on with projects as everybody has the same version. Dropbox will automatically backup several versions of your file and you can restore them if needed. It also has a public folder, where if you put something in there you can get a public link to quickly share an image or file with somebody as is the case above. Highly recommended app !

Hi, I found your website by chance as I wanted to have a live photoes of the clothings that people in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo are wearing today so that I can plan what jackets clothes to bring when I visit your beautiful country next week. Can you give me an idea? Do I bring a light jacket - no padding with fibre/down feather like those thick winter jackets? I am really at loss! Please help. Thank you. Lilian

These photos were taken on a really warm autumn day when the temp was probably over 20c. Right now, the temp varies greatly depending on the day. Today there is a slight rain and the air is cool. I get cold so would wear a scarf and thick down jacket. Most people on the street are not wearing scarf and hat yet, but some sort of jacket is required. Many places you would probably visit in Kyoto, temples etc, can be in the shaded areas and you would be better off with warmer clothing. Kyoto is normally very cold in winter and hot in summer due to its bonchi (basin style) shape. It could turn warm again tomorrow but I would still want a light jacket or sweater. If you are coming in 2-3 weeks time, it is only going to get colder. I would bring a scarf, hat and decent coat, but also have some lighter clothes packed in case we have a beautiful warm day. Even if its warm in the day, you will find night time has a chill about it. Some warm underwear would be worth bringing as well. Expect to be out and about walking and catching public transport a lot on your trip so plan light but warm. Hope you enjoy.

The Jimmy Choo ads aren't as big here but they're still on every bus stop^^ You should do a few sets of sepia photos, they look really cool ;)

  19. shibuya246

Thanks. I'll take some sepia ones and post them. With the air being cool at the moment, there should be some nice contrasts. thanks for suggesting :)

Thank you for your advise, I think I will bring 2 coats one with down feathers and one light jacket. Your photoes are beautiful and very eye catching... Thank you for sharing them. Lilian from Malaysia
